Art's Story

Life Hello Everybody, Wanted to let you know about where I am today. You can call me Art Anthony, since that's my first and middle name. I am involved with so many things, these days. Work is crazy, being in the field of architorcher . . . I mean architecture. That is my regular day job and I love it, just crazy at times. My weekend night gig, when I get booked is playing in a band I formed several years ago (BrandofHERO). Check us out some time . . . just add .com to the band name and you can visit our website. At age 11, I took piano lessons (at the request of my parents and a teacher). A few months into my piano lessons, I told my instructor I really wanted to play the guitar and begged my parents to buy a guitar as soon as they could afford one for me. Soon after that, I quit the piano lessons and got my wish and received my first guitar and began my quest to improve his skills on my own with no teacher, and that began my thirst for music. To make a long story short . . . I was in and out of the music scene for many years until a few years ago God open the door for my band to play with some past artist and bands. I my goal is to open for some major current bands and win more more music awards, God willing I don't get too old looking . . .? For a while I put the guitar and singing aside and studied architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA. After I graduated with a B.S. of Architecture, I knew I needed to get back into music. In 1994, while attending Saddleback Valley Community Church, I was inspired to get involved on the worship team. I met Joey Heshion (previous lead guitarist for B.o.H.) on one of...Expand for more
the groups. While serving on the team, I felt I needed to get back to my first love of playing my guitar, writing new music and sharing them with a crowd. I believed I needed to move outside of singing to the “choir” and reach out to the people outside the walls of the “sanctuary”. In 1996, after getting together several times, Joey and I began the band that they now call “B.o.H.” (BrandofHERO). Joey and I started off doodling with some blues-rock ideas, and B.o.H. took off from there. I wanted the band to grow from merely doing rock tunes to writing and doing a wide variety of eclectic styles that encompasses alternative/hard rock music in a whole new way. My musical influences have a wide range from Pink Floyd to Black Sabbath, U2 to RedHotChiliPepers, Nirvana to Collective Soul and from LifeHouse to Dave Mathews Band . . . There you have it . . . now that I bored you to death. My wife (Karen) is an amazing person to allow me to use these abilities and is amazing at supporting me in my endevors. . . I love her to death! We have no kids, but Karen has mention many times that she has one already, pointing at me . . . Yes, I am still a kid in a 40+ year body. Anyway, I'd like to chat more . . . but I must be on my way. Email me sometime, if you'd like. I don't bite and it's all about friendships anyway, right? Sincerely, Art Anthony Alvarado B.o.H.
