Arthur's Story

In December of 1960, I was transferred to Calgary Alberta, from North Bay Ontario, with the Firm I represented; then went on to Edmonton Alberta in late 1961, I was the "clean-up" guy when others made some terrible mistakes. I then met my future wife in Edmonton, and we were married in North Bay in August of 1962 .We also lived in Montreal and I continued to work with the same firm for 3 years, then returned to Edmonton. I was still working in Edmonton and in 1974 I, along with 2 others, bought a "School Bus Distributorship" for Alberta, B.C. the Yukon & the N.W. Territories. We sold School Buses, Airport & Hotel Shuttles, Prison Buses, Library Buses, Bloodmobiles, and anything else you could do in a Bus, including one for a "Pole Dancer" (a Stripper). In late 1978, we bought out one of the partners and continued the business and did very well, then in the year 1983 sold the organization, with a condition that I continue to operate the business for 5 years. After that period, I purchased a similar Distributorship for the States of California and Hawaii (1987) and operated that successfully, Headquartered in Fresno California, until 2007 when...Expand for more
I sold the business and retired while keeping the Real Estate in which the business was located. Since that time I have been buying and Renting Residential Real Estate, which has become very rewarding. We had 3 Daughters, who attended University of Alberta, in Edmonton and all graduated . One with a Business Degree who later went on to a University in Texas, after she was married and received an MBA degree , another as a R.N. and the last one as a French/English High School Teacher. All are married, and they live in Portsmouth Rhode Island, Los Angeles California, and Victoria, British.Columbia.. We also have 4 Grandchildren, 2 in Los Angeles and 2 in Victoria B.C. We try to visit with each family, at least twice a year , if not more often. In August of 2012, we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary and we all (daughters and their Husbands and all Grandkids) went to "Club Med Sandpiper" in Port St. Lucie, Florida and had a wonderfull time. I took the opportunity to go to North Bay on my return trip and saw some friends, Aunts, one Uncle, and it was very nice to see our former home town. But I was then very happy to return to California.
