Arthur's Story
I attended Benson Co. Ag as a Junior from Fillmore in 1943-44. Started my Sr. year in Fillmore; dropped out in fall 1944 to enlist in the Navy with Edwin Thompson. Attended Maddock with Edwin Thompson, Gerald Lybeck and Ivan Slotto, all Fillmoreites.
I was in the Navy as a teen-ager 1944-1946, inactive Navy 1946-1954. I was headed for the planned invasion of Japan 11-1-1945, when Truman decided to drop the atomic bomb. At the time, I was disappointed that the war was over; now think ...Expand for more
that it probably saved my life as I was in the Navy Amphibious forces, high speed landing transport.
Currently live in Rochester, MN., would love to hear from you; Would especially like to hear from members of the 1944-1945-1946 classes. I graduated from Maddock in 1946 after being given credit for some of my Navy service. I would like to hear about any reunion activity! I get back to ND at least once a year.
I was active in the Insurance and Real Estate businss.
