Arthur's Story
Military
Spent Four Years in the Navy, and never went to Sea. I put in for Sea Duty while Station in Saufley Field, Pensacola, Florida, and they sent me to Hawaii. I went to Hawaii Via North Island Naval Port in San Diego to catch a Ship to Hawaii. But, was foiled again by being flown to Travis Air Force Base outside of San Francisco then flown via Flying Tigers Airlines to Honolulu. job took me each day to one of the aircraft carriers docked in Pearl Harbor, so I did get on alot of Ships all docked none moving.
Once though I did get on a moving Naval Ship, The Ford Island Ferry in Pearl Harbor. It traveled between Ford Island and the main Base at Pearl. So after 4 years Active/2 years inactive Reserves and 1 Yr active reserves I spent 15 minutes on an actual moving Navel Ship. But, I enjoyed my whole enlistment. And would do it again!.
