Arthur's Story
I worked as an investigator in Los Angeles starting in 1985. Whatever you needed to know about someone I probably had a way to find it out. Best part of my job was tracking down people who were hiding. Worst was following people who drove too fast Most interesting case I had was to find out why diesel trucks were vanishing in Montana. People up there actually thought it was UFOs but it turned out to be something much worse.... the Russians I also had a bag full of disguises. I was a three-story man. Get inside the place. Usually posing as a city electrician etc. Switch clothes. Contact the suspect and get information out of him without him knowing it. Then get out. My movie location guy (photo section) fooled a lot of people including a biker gang once. The biker girls loved my British accent. I would use my delivery guy to verify who someone was. They had to show me ID for a special delivery refund check... Greed nails crooks. We had so much fun with our group. the wife of my boss one time, and she worked in our office. My boss wanted me to test her street smarts as he put it. Boy, was she mad that we fooled her. Those high school drama classes really paid off. I loved every minute of my job. Even the close calls were exciting. I worked 300 cases a year. Sometimes a dozen at a time. But those days are long gone. Got to the point where I couldn't remember who was doing what to whom. Now I enjoy working in my garden also target shooting practicing aikido and I love playing bingo at my church. By the way the wife I once fooled recruited me to get her husband back. She wanted me to test his "street smarts" Wonder where she got that from. She had a very detailed plan that actually worked. Then a year later my boss nails me (not really but he was the boss) with two phony cops a German shepherd dog named Brutus they borrowed and fake arrest warrants. My boss was thrilled when they slapped handcuffs on me in the parking lot. He saw the whole thing with his binoculars hiding on the rooftop. Just a normal day at the office.
