Artina's Story
Life
When leaving high school in 1993 I wanted to do like most people with the opportunity. I wanted to go to college. I went to ISU in the fall of 1993. Working toward a degree Actuarial Science I thought I had it made. Until I actually started class. It was all general classes, like science, algebra, english. You know the basics and then Sophmore year hit me. It was a struggle to maintain my grades. But I did it and eventually change my major to Economics. But what had to happen. I got hurt. Yes hurt I came home and healed and went back to school in Chicago were I finished my degree at DePaul University in Economics. Wow was I glad when that was over. So now I need to find a job. Of course while in school I needed money so I worked in an Engineering and Architect firm called Greeley and Hansen. I was one of the Project Accountant there. I also worked as the Payroll Accountant as well. Well when I graduated I decided to look for work and landed an exciting position as a Staff Accountant(Assistant Controller) at a small company called Graf Air Freight. It was the relaxed company you could work for but of course it was short lived. They lost money and so I was gone. Now the last position of course I have and currently have is a Finance Analyst at a huge company called Accenture. A spin off from Arthur and Anderson. As of recently I have worked as A Cost Financial Analyst III at IBM. I am in a comfortable position now. I am still though single and searching. Otherwise my path has been great.
School
I was pretty quiet in high school. My life was going to school. Going to class. Doing homework. Going to my mom job and going home. Not much of a life. No parties. Strict parents you know. I started out a stranger. Not even knowing what the Rank 1 means on my report card. But that is what I was. I took my class and enjoyed the Math and Computer Science of them. I even did a little track, volleyball, and drama. My main focus of course was Academic Decathlon, Principle scholars, and when I became a Junio...Expand for more
r the National Honor Society. A lot of my attention went there. I went to so many activities based upon these events I did not know what was next. I won a few awards from there as well. I won #1 Freshmen for everything and then they stop having awards for us. I know I would have done excellent every year. Anyway when Junior Ball came I was there. I actually went. It was my most embarrasing moment of high school. SOmeone took me in hand for some wrong they assumed I did to a waitor. How embarassing but I got over it. Then Senior prom. I went with a group of women to Prom. It was fun I thought I looked pretty. Anyway I graduated Salutatorian of my School. It was fun but boring at the same time.
