Ashley's Story
Life
Well, where do I start? I'm married now- yes to the boy who got me into so much trouble in high school- Nico Garcia. We got married in Cheyenne on July 7, 2004. Yes, my parents know and they are very upset, but I decided it was time for me to leave them and make my own decisions. We are very happily married and we just recently moved to Denver. No, I don't have any kids nor do I plan on having any in the near future. Nick and I decided that we want to wait a couple of years until we are financially stable and I finish school. But we do have 2 little Jack Russell terriers that basically are our children! We have a girl, named Rylei and a boy named Sosa. Sosa is my life. I love this little dog so much I can't even tell you! Rylei is Nick's baby- so she's daddy's little girl. I'm not in school right now- I had to take a couple year's off but I plan on going back this fall to the University of Texas Pan-Am to get my bachelor's in nursing. Nico's a cable installer- believe it or not he's making between 2-4,000 bucks every two weeks, which I think is really good for a non-college grad! So he's taking very good care of our family. No baby on the way....yet!
School
I don't think I ever had a crush on any guy in high school-except for Nico. I did have a serious boyfriend my senior year, Mike Stickelberger, but he went to East. We actually stayed together for almost 4 years. We went off to college together in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a year. Later I found out that he cheated on me with a little wench who also went to East, but is a couple years younger than me (I won't mention any names). So, we broke up for about 2 months and we ended up going to UW together and we got back together, but it just wasn't the same after he cheated on me. So, we broke up a few years later and that's when Nico and I were reunited and fell in love. Honestly, the first few years out of high school I missed it like crazy, but now I don't think I would go back. I have a lot of fun memories though. d talking behiind you're back. Back then I would never stick up for myself, but now, if anyone ever says anything to me, I stick up for myself. I don't put up with the bull crap. I think Nico has a lot to do with that! He's really taught me a lot about myself that I really didn't even know about. I miss all my friends from high school. I only keep in touch with a few, which is really sad!
College
Well, I got a soccer scholarship to Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. I played for a year, then I got hurt and had to get knee surgery and I hated it in South Dakota so I moved back to Wyoming and went to UW for a year. Nicole Hixson was my roommate there! I switched my major to dental hygiene so I moved back to Cheyenne and went to LCCC for 2 years. Then I took a year off cuz my parents refused to pay for my school since I was dating Nico. And now here I am in Texas and I plan on enrolling this fall to the University of Texas Pan-AM and getting my bachelor's in Social Work or Nursing... I haven't decided yet!
Workplace
OK, so I worked at Subway all through high school and college- how pathetic is that?! :) Anyways, after Nico and I moved in together in Ft. Collins and my parents refused to pay for school, I got a job offer to be the manager of a brand new store in Estes Park, CO. Nico and I both decided it would be good for us both, so we moved up there for a year. I couldn't take Subway anymore so when we moved down here to Texas I simply REFUSED to work there or anywhere else that deals with retail. Finding a job down here was really difficult- almost everyone speaks fluent Spanish. A lot of the people down here don't even speak English, so wherever you go to get a job, they require that you speak Spanish. But, I got lucky and got a job as the secretary where Nico works- COI Telecommunications. It's alright- I definitely don't want to do this for the rest of my life- but it'll do for now. I'm in charge of payroll, making spreadsheets, and a whole lotta other fun stuff!! I guess having jobs like this encourage me to go back to school to get my degree!
