Ashley's Story

Life I am living in Gresham,OR, near Portland. I share an apartment with my brother and dad,but have it to myself most of the time so it's almost as good as being on my own. I have an eastern painted turtle, and I have worked with some interesting animals as a volunteer at the OR Zoo. I have a beach-cruiser style bike, and still don't like to drive. I really like living in the Great Northwest, because I'm near the beautiful mountains and coast but also right by downtown Portland and not really too far from Seattle. I have a boyfriend,we've been together 2 years .we are both like to stay in rather than go out,but if there is a good rock or metal show in town we usually go. Also we explore nearby parks rivers,& trails a lot and also like to go to the OR coast to go to the beach. Some of my favorite things to do here include going to Everyday Music downtown to browse used vinyl records, cds, tapes, dvds and vidoes; going to concerts; visiting microbrews and checking out beer fests; walking by the small waterfalls in the vicinity of Multnomah Falls, and visiting historical Astoria,OR (besides being part of American history, they made Goonies and several other cool movies there). There is a huge amount of diversity here, not just with the landscape but with the people as well;there are a lot of different cultures and religions represented here, and people from out of town or from differen...Expand for more
t countires are a commonality here. Also there are lots of small 'sub-communities' in this area. If you can't find your niche here you can make your own, because Portland, if not the rest of OR too, lives up to the state motto that 'Oregon is for dreamers.' and it's impossible to run out of things to do, no matter what your interests- there's everything here. It is a good area for artists or musicians. I have met some amazing people and made a few friends here, but I am still homesick for the small town life and all my old friends.. . not just in AL,other places too. I remember people from classes as far back as pre-school.. if you remember me, say hi sometime, there's no one I wouldn't be happy to hear from. School I went to elementary school for grades 3-5 at Brook Park Elementary (in Indianapolis), then to middle school at Fall Creek Valley. I loved Fall Creek and hated to leave, but after my 6th grade year Ft. Harrison closed down and since my dad was in the Army, we had to relocate to Ft. Rucker in Alabama. I started 7th grade there at Coppinville Middle School, then went to 8th and 9th at Enterprise Jr. High. I went to highschool at Enterprise High, and graduated in 2001. I am currently going to college full time at Mt. Hood Community College, in Gresham,OR (near Portland). I would love to get in touch with any of my old friends, so I'm here if you want to email me :)
