Austin's Story
Life
--Born in Fort Walton Beach FL and reared in Crestview FL among 11 brothers and sisters. I graduated from Crestview High School with honors (member of the Beta Honor Club) and participated in school government and sports (football & track).
--Attended Florida A&M Univ where I received my BS degree (magna cum laude) in Political Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Also have Masters Degrees in Public Administration & Management and National Security Strategy from Webster University and the National War College respectively.
--Married my high school soul mate Nadene (maiden name Robbins, also class of '71).
--Traveled all over the world to include many states in the U.S., and the foreign countries of Germany, France, Belgium, Korea, Japan, and the Middle East Region (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and Israel).
--Nadene and I have two children who are both graduates of Florida A&M. Austin IV is an IT Director who lives in Tampa and along with his wife have given us four grandchildren (3 girls and one boy--Austin V); and Allison who recently spent a stint in NYC at Macy's headquarters and is now a Macy's District Planning Manager (Men's Dept) for the Northern Virginia District that encompasses 13 stores. recently provided us another addition to our family (grandson) which now totals 5 grandkids.
--Nadene continues to enjoy her retired time at home. I have now been retired 9 years as a Colonel in the Army after 29 years of service to my country. However, I continue to work and am now a Vice President in charge of Medical Readiness for the Armed Forces Services Corporation. Just recently I was selected to serve on the National Board of the Rocks, Inc., as the Vice President for Mentorship. The Rocks is a 501C organization dedicated to nuturing minority cadets and junior officers in support of the Army by providing scholarships to deserving college-bound junior ROTC cadets and ROTC cadets already in college and mentorship to junior officers currently serving their country..
--Nadene and I are empty nesters (and loving it) and currently reside in Northern Virginia, but we travel every chance we get. Without question, our favorite place to visit is New York City and we travel there between three to four times a year. We get back to Florida about two times a year.
--Overall, the Lord has truly blessed Nadene and I to lead quite interesting and fulfilling lives. Everything we are or ever hope to be is all owed to Him. May the Lord bless and keep whomever reads this. To God be the glory.
