Austin's Story

Life (there is a fairly complete bio on my website at austinmoran.com along with a phone number and email address. I would love to hear from old classmates) During my final year of High school, I worked in broadcasting at a radio station in Prince Frederick, Maryland. I spent many years working in radio and television from the Washington, DC area to Chicago, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, the former Soviet Radio and TV Network (I did a syndicated show featuring American music) and even spent three and a half years working for the National Iran Radio and TV network in Tehran (during the late Shah's reign). I managed to squeeze in eight years in the Navy. I went into the Navy so that I could go back to school and managed to complete my BS degree at Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) and my Masters at the University of California-Berkeley. I was stationed aboard aircraft carriers Independence and John Kennedy. Following Naval service, I returned to my life back here in the United States and managed to go sailing for an extended period of time (I live to sail). I presently reside in upstate NY (the Albany area) where I am the director of Technology Services for a major New York State trade association. I have written several software applications that have been sold nationally, and am presently writing another to be used in th...Expand for more
e administration of ethics, mediation and arbitration cases. My mother sold our childhood home on Myrtle street in Alexandria in 2002 and moved to Charlottesville so she could be close to my brother and one of my sisters (and their families). It is very strange and kind of sad to drive by Alexandria on the way to visit family in Charlottesville. I have wonderfully warm memories of growing up in Alexandria and still feel deeply connected with it. I would love to hear from any of you. -X-X-X U P D A T E X-X-X- My mom passed away, quietly in 2004. She was 84 years old and had been living independantly in relatively good health. Her decline was rapid, peaceful and fortunately, without pain. It has been difficult adjusting to her absence. Workplace I am the Director of Information Technology for the NY State Association of REALTORS. It's a great job in which I have written several software applications that have been sold across the United State. I have recently obtained the professional designation for Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist and am conducting workshops and giving corporate keynote presentations all around the country. To find out more about what I've been up to, you may visit my website at austinmoran.com . I would love to hear from old classmates any time. My phone number is posted on my website.
