Avalon's Story
In 2007 we retired and our daughter, Reiko, married Aki, an amazing young man. We're fortunate they live only five Km from us. Retirement has given Tom and me more time to devote to volunteering, and I serve as director for three not-for-profit organizations. We cared for his disabled mom until April 2011.

s in post-secondary education as a student advisor (British Columbia Institute of Technology, Langara College, SFU and Capilano University College) I had a wonderful and rewarding career. Reflecting on my high school years, I never envisioned that my career would be in the public service and education fields, or that my life partner would turn out to be a secondary school PE/Math teacher. I consider myself to be the luckiest woman in the world.
