Aven's Story

Life For most of our married life, we lived in Coppell, which is close to DFW airport. But in 2003, we moved out in the country near Granbury, Texas, and we love it! I retired from counseling in 2002 but have returned as a long term sub for counselors and principals when I am needed. Currently, I am a stay at home mom and enjoying every minute of it! I stay very busy. Our daughter turned 18 in February and is a Freshman at ACU. We have a very empty nest! Best wishes to all my friends, former students, and co-workers. School I enjoyed the great school spirit and loyalty that I felt towards Paschal ....but I wouldn't want to do high school again. I was so shy! College I really enjoyed my college years. The best part of it all were the great friends that I made and still keep in touch with even now. Workplace I worked my entire career in Irving ISD and I worked with some wonderful people. er a few years there, I became a counselor at MacArthur High School until Lacy was born in 1990. Stayed home with her for a couple of years and went back to Sam Houston Middle School in the early 90's. When a position opened back up at Mac, I left Sam in the fall of 95 and returned to Mac where I stayed until I retired. I am really enjoying my substituting here in Granbury....especially because you know it is not permanent!! Great people to work with at all 5 campuses I have been on....I do counseling in the evening for Celebrate Recovery working primarily with young people. I am also involved with several boards, and other volunteer work. Military Wasn't in the military myself, but I certainly appreciate all the people that are now or have been. My dad was in WW2 as captain of a minesweeper in the South Pacific and my brother was in Okinawa during the VietNam war. Had lots of friends that served in VietNam, also. I highly respect them all!
