Barb's Story
Life
Currently working as a Legal Compliance Auditor for Federated Department Stores (Macy's, Bloomingdale's) and living near Cincinnati OH. Spent ten years as a Supply Officer in the Navy where I met my husband and got to travel the world. Happily married with no kids, my husband is a great guy who works for Ingersoll Rand. In our spare time we like to travel (especially cruises), a habit left over from the Navy. We have one spoiled cat named Elvis.
College
I attended Lansing Community College, the first year out of high school (which I hated). I then transferred to Ferris State where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Methods, which is math applied to business. Other than helping me develop analytical skills, a degree in Quantitative Methods is about as useful as it sounds. ation with concentration in Human Resources. I'm thinking about maybe getting a PhD in Criminology or Sociology, but for right now it is just an idea.
Military
I joined the Navy in 1988 and started Officer Candidate School in Newport RI the February of that year. In June I moved on to Supply School in Athens, GA. From January 1989 - July 1990 I was the Disbursing (Payroll) Officer at Guantanamo Bay Cuba. From September 1990 - June 1993 I was a Contract Administrator for a Government Contracting Office in Detroit, MI. In July 1993 I then transferred to the USS Simon Lake (AS-33) in LaMaddalena Italy where I was the Supply Quality Assurance Officer and Stock Control Officer. From there I went to the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, where I was in Foreign Military Sales from June 1995 until mid 1997. I finished my career at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton OH at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
