Barb's Story
I went to SDSU in Brookings to get my B.S. in clinical laboratory science and then got my first job in Casper, WY. Stayed there for 5 years and then moved to Omaha, NE, where I lived for 10 years. Did a quick year in Kansas City and then moved to Lincoln, NE, where I got my Master of Forensic Science degree in chem/bio. I have been doing forensic DNA for the past twenty years -- even became a sheriff's deputy as part of the job in KC. And no, I didn't have the personality for that so it didn't last long. loved, but it was too stressful so I took a step back and am now doing clinical laboratory science again. I work at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center now and it has been an experience that really makes one think about what's important in life. Cancer patients are really "living" and not taking things for granted.
I married briefly in 1993 but am now single. I have been dating a wonderful guy for a year and a half. We live with 2 spoiled cats and enjoy the mountains and places to see in Colorado.
I get to Martin very rarely to see my mom, who is going strong. My father died in 2001 and his absence continues to make a large impact on me.
