Barbara (Bobbi)'s Story
Life
Ah, life's road sure has it hills yet some wonderful green valleys as most of us at this age can attest to.
When I ran from Ashtabula the summer before my senior year, I thought I would never look back on those years and wish for some of them to return (although I wouldn't want some of the other crap to tag along). I was luckier then most as I had a place to run to and finish high school living with my father in Pepper Pike.
I married a guy I met there and we had two children and divorced just after our 10 year anniversary. I remarried soon afterwards (after all that is what a girl of the 50's 60's was suppose to do). Jerry and I were married 16 years, many happy ones. We moved to AZ in 1986 and divorced when my youngest went off to college in 92.
During the time in AZ, I climbed the corporate ladder only to get knock off. My life took another direction and major change. I went to college and became a teacher. A career I wish I had had the opportunity to do oh the so many years before.
I moved to OR in the summer of 07 at my daughter's request (she didn't like me in AZ alone, too far away she said). The economy hit hard everywhere and they are even laying teachers off (over 20,000 just in t...Expand for more
he state of OR alone). Soooo I retired and subbed to give me a little extra. However, I wasn't ready to retire yet so back to AZ I came. I now teach on the Navajo Reservation and love it, They provide us housing at minimal cost which makes it even better. I love the kids and the laid back culture, although at times it can test my A type personality. The other thing I had to get used to is driving 70 miles to the nearest grocery store. You don't just jump in the car to get a gallon of milk or a stick of butter. LOL
I do go down to Phoenix about once a month, just to get in some bingo and see some friends. I gave up dating as I just can't find anyone to keep up with me.
My two grown children -- Marc drives an 18 wheeler, is married and has one son. He is also in the Army National Guard and spent most of 2011 in Iraq. Sure am glad he is back and safe. Bekki is married to a Singer/Songwriter/Musician and they have my 2 youngest grandsons, one who will be 5 in August of 2013 and the other will be 1 in Sept, 2013. Bekki works for IKEA.
If you find me, please send me a note and tell me how we know each other and what you are up to. I am also on Facebook and would love to hear from some of my "old" friends.
