Barbara's Story
Life
Living in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Back in the olden days and the predawn of man, I Born in Olympia, Wa. Moved to the bay area when I was just a tot. (Walnut Creek).
When I turned fourteen, my dad decided he was tired of the traffic and the drudgery of being an Otis elevator machanic in San Francisco. Out of the blue, he decided that we were going to sell everything we owned and move to the Oregon coast. He had
envisioned making his riches as a glass blower on the old Pacific Highway in Port Orford, Oregon. We soon came to realize that a fortune was not to be made crocheting glass, so after a few years of near poverty we moved to the Portland, Oregon area and my father opened his own elevator company.
At the age of sixteen I was tired of having strict parents decided I was old enough to live on my own and moved to Olympia, Washington. I married at the age of nineteen, and had a daughter a year later (she is now 26 years old). Divorced after five years. Remarried and had another daughter (who is now 18). I opened a Bridal Salon in the South Sound Mall in Olympia. After a few years I sold the salon and moved to Bonney Lake, Washington. Went to college in my 30's and became a jeweler in the Tacoma a...Expand for more
rea.
My husband and I purchased some property in Sand Point,Idaho overlooking Lake Pend Oreille. We plan on building a log home and trying to live as close to nature as possible. My husband is retiring next year after working at the SeaTac Airport for 31 years.
I now am a rare book collector and seller, writer (presently writing a genealogy book on the Pacific NW, historian, and genealogist (I can't believe this is where my life has led me since history was one of my worst classes in school!). I also have a genealogy website specializing in the early pioneers of Washington, Idaho and Oregon. My hobby is collecting old yearbooks and matching faces with names in my Pioneer database. My goal is for anyone searching for that elusive grandparent that I might be able to search my archives and produce and provide a scanned copy ready for framing.
I have often thought about my fellow classmates mates many times and wondered where life has taken them.
Please feel free to contact me, I would love to hear from my long lost freinds (and aquaintances)or if any live nearby that I don't remember, please email me.
PS. If anyone has a yearbook they would like to sell, please email me.
Sincerely, Barbara
