My name is still Barbara Bennett. I live in Anchorage, Alaska in a big house on the side of the mountain overlooking the Cook Inlet. I moved to Anchorage from Los Angeles 12-years-ago on Christmas Eve. My back yard is the Chugach National Forest, the nation's 2nd largest at 5.6 million acres and my neighbors include eagles, moose and bears. I primarily work in conservation, serving on the national board of the American Cetacean Society which is the oldest whale conservation organization in the United States. We just hosted our bi-annual international conference in Monterey. I'm also on the Alaska Stranding Network, which means if a marine mammals strands, dead or alive, I go get it. During the summer months I work as a live-aboard naturalist for Princess Cruises. As a result I've taken thousands of photographs of the Great Land and the creatures, human and otherwise, that live in and along the temperate rainforest.
