Barbara's Story
Life
I've been living in Hawaii since my mid-twenties, and, for the past several years, I've lived on the Windward side of Oahu in a beach community called Lanikai. I love to hike; the trails are great here in Hawaii, and I raise orchids and bromeliads as a hobby. Years ago, my ex-husband and I had a small Danish folk boat that we loved to sail off Waikiki and around the island of Oahu, mostly. For more than twenty years, I've been a "headhunter", associated with Adecco since 1996, doing professional recruiting and, I am Past President of the Professional Women's Network. The Internet is great, I'm in touch with my best friend from junior high school days, but, mostly, I have a strong "ohana" here in Hawaii. I did reconnect in 20...Expand for more
06 with a classmate from St. Mary's Academy, Marlene Mauricio, who lives in my town! My kids live on the mainland, in Portland, Oregon, and I have two grandsons. My daughter-in-law is the greatest; she's from the Yukon, and my daughter is currently working for a federal agency. She goes out on assignment to wild fires during the summer season, as an information officer for the media and public. I have been divorced for many years, and the *main man* in my life is Jesus Christ. The Christian walk is an ongoing challenge, because you can't do it in your own strength, but I couldn't live without the peace that comes from being right with God through faith in his son.
