After high school, I got a job working at the Bank of Weirton. I took a couple of classes at WVNCC but just for one semester. I worked there for about 3 years then moved to Parkerburg to live with my older sister who was teaching school there. I got a job working as the Assistant to the Finance Director for the City. I started attending school at Parkersburg Community College in the evenings while I lived there for about 2 years. I realized it was going to take way too long to finish a degree while working full-time, so I quit my job and started at West Liberty full-time studying education. After a year at West Lib, I transferred to WVU and graduated in 1988 with my Bachelor's degree in Social Studies education. I taught school on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for a short time then returned to WVU to complete my Master's degree in Agricultural & Extension Education and have been in Morgantown ever since. I taught school in Monongalia County for several years then took a full-time job with WVU in 1993 in Extension.
