Barbara's Story

Life Hey out there, anyone remember me? I was the last one you picked in gym class, and I always had to sit in the front of the class (usually right in front of the teacher). Well if you only had my life! I could write a book about it, in fact I'm thinking of doing so. But I'm working on getting my first current one published (it's in the final stage of editing) before I start on that one. The teacher's pet in class ended up to be one bad egg. I ended up with a rep on the West Coast that would curdle your milk. Did you know that even the toughest drug dealers are afraid of anyone from Detroit? I'm a single mom living the quiet life now back in Warren with two kids, one of them just turned 18 this year. The other will be 17 soon. I've got three cats and a dog, which wouldn't surprise anyone who knew me. What might surprise you is that now I am a fourth degree black belt. I now run a restaurant in Northville. I am also an avid paintball player, with my sniper barrel I can pick off anyone. So, anyway, maybe I will see you at a booksigning. A True Story: We used to dream of flying, not in a plane, but like birds, arms outstretched, the wind blowing gently in our faces. One night our dreams came true. We were flying over the city of Ferndale, the lights down below us. One light in particular was a bright fire down below in my childhood friends home. We didn't care, we were flying!!! Then there was a brighter light, at first it looked like a star, then it became like a spotlight. Like moths to a flame we flew higher, going into that light, going ever higher. Shananne and Pandora flew ahead of me, much hi...Expand for more
gher than I was. There was a point where I could not go any higher, it was as though there was a wall in the sky that would not let me go further. I called to Shananne "Wait, I can't go any higher." She descended to where I was, kissed me on the cheek and told me goodbye and that she loved me. She then followed her sister into the light, and it was blinding, I could not see her anymore. I continued to fly some more, descending down to my house. It was then that my parents woke me up to tell me that my best friend, Shananne Kelly and her sister Pandora had died that night in a fire in their home. I think about them every October 4th when that tragic accident occurred. But I know one thing for sure, friends come and go through the trials and tribulations of life, but Shananne will always be my best friend. We will never fight over men, we will never have a disagreement that will rip us apart. Someday I hope to see her in heaven, and thank her for those couple of years when I had a sister that was all that I had ever dreamed of. I have never had a friend as close as Shananne, I have been afraid to let anyone that close to me, sharing my secrets and hopes. I used to walk around in sorrow at her loss. It took three years before I realized that I could look up when I walked. Now I am happy, and it does not bother me as much. I only wonder what happened to her mother, Patricia, and her brothers Robert and Frank? (Robin) Kelly. My only mememtos of them are small, a box that Pandora made for a teacher that she never gave to her, and that I got for Christmas instead the year before they died. I still have that box.
