Barbara's Story
About a week ago I was driving to the ferry to go to Vancouver at abut 5:30 AM. Curled in a tight ball on the yellow line was a newborn fawn. I stopped the car in the middle of my lane and jumped out to save the fawn. I will never forget how it felt to carry this little newborn (who stayed curled up and mewed softly) to safety. "freeze"--not too adaptive on a highway but great in the bush. When I got to the ferry line-up I called my husband and he got the wildlife rescue to check out the fawn. The fawn stayed where I put it and its Mom comes at night to feed it until it can come with her. A happy ending for a BC story. Mind you, the rest of my life isn't quite so happily ever after, but this was an experience I will never forget.
