Barbara's Story
At this point in my life, I've been married for over 43 years and have raised two kids; a 36 year old healthy young man and a 34 year old beautiful woman, who is married. We are now grandparents and loving it. I am now fully retired but busy with a life of volunteering, genealogy, and being creative with art. My husband is retired as well. We moved out of Milwaukee and enjoy the wildlife and conservancy we live on.
I was employed as church secretary in a Lutheran church in Waukesha and Racine Counties for twenty years.
I am fortunate to have been one of those moms who was able to stay home with the kids while they were growing up. Of course, we did without new cars and fancy vacations.
We moved out of Milwaukee after my husband retired and love living in the country.
I enjoy genealogy and have gotten back to the 1600's with my part of the family.
If you have gotten this far along in my bio, I hope you will take the time to help us locate any classmates or friends that attended Washington.
School
Certainly, I remember all the great times that all of us had: Patti, Pat, Kari, Nancy, Sammi, Gail, Diane, the list goes on....

Workplace
Immediately after high school, my career was started at a local bank as a statistical typist. After only working there for four months, I started working then at the Milwaukee Police Department. I had an incredibly fun, frustrating and yet rewarding job in the Traffic Bureau. For thirteen years, I worked with the public and helping the police officers. It was during this time period that police officers were not highly regarded, so we became a close knit family. We laughed at the sad times to uplift our spirits or we cried when officers were killed or hurt. And yes, I was working when Washington's class president was killed.
But my greatest accomplishment was the period of time that I spent staying home to become a mom. It was the most difficult yet the most rewarding time of my life. I did not work for 16 years, but it was at that time period that was busiest-volunteering for many, many activities from Girl Scouts to church artist at my church.
I have had the pleasure of working at a local church. There were many challenges, but again the rewards outweighed the negatives. I just finished my 16th year and decided to quit.
My intention is to enjoy a year off from working by working on genealogy, painting, jewelry, being with family, and staying healthy by exercising.
