Barbara's Story
Life
After graduating from high school in 1995, I left for Navy bootcamp in Great Lakes, IL. Upon graduation from bootcamp, I attended hospital corpsman school in Great Lakes and graduated in June 1996. My first duty station was at the Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan. After completing my two year assignment in Japan, I transferred to a medical clinic in Bangor, Washington. then attended Respiratory Therapy school for four months with the Army in San Antonio, TX. I completed RT school with a four month clinical rotation at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Ca and graduated in June 2002. I was then transferred to the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. My tour here in Japan will end in September 2005. This will be my last tour in the Navy. When my husband and I return to the states, I plan to separate from the military to work as respiratory therapist in a civilian hospital.
