Barbara Hoffmeyer:  

After going to Perpetual Help Grade School from Kindergarten thru 8th grade, I then went on and graduated from St. Alphonsus Rock High. I met my husband while a senior in high school after he returned from serving 4 years in the Navy. I immediately went to work and 2 years later married my sweetheart, Louis Hoffmeyer, who was then a St Louis Firefighter (who retired after 30 years on the force). He then went to work for the US government on the Special Police Force retiring from there after 10 years. He also served in the US Air National Guard for 20 years. We had 2 children, a daughter, who is an LPN,and a son who is a long distance truck driver. Our daughter had 3 children and 2 stepchildren. Right now (2013) they range in age for 24 to 30. 2 of our granddaughters are married, one is single, and our 2 grandsons are also still single. We have no great-grandchildren although we hope someday to have some. Our son has never married and has no children. I started out as a homemaker and stay at home mom. When our son was 10 I went to work for Schnucks so that they could have the Catholic education that we wanted for them. I retired after 23 years. Since then my husband and I have been to many places. We've been to 13 countries in Europe having gone there twice. We also have been to Hawaii twice visiting 4 different Islands. We been to Mexico 4 different times, Canada, Alaska, the Caribbean twice, and all over the United States.
