Barbara's Story
Life has been challenging but rewarding: Married my boyfriend from Renton High, happily raised two beautiful talented children, survived cancer in my 30's, graduated from college in my mid thirties, both kids graduated from UW, started bicycling and rode cross country (from Seattle to Washington DC) in 2000, retired at age 55, rode cross country again in 2007, 2010, and my last ride from San Diego to the coast of Florida in 2013, I started racing bicycle and got the Gold medal in Washington Senior Olympics 40k, then won the Silver Medal at the Oregon Senior Olympics 40k, which qualified me for the National Senior Olympics in 2015, I raced the 40k - won the Bronze Medal, which means 3rd fastest woman in my age group in the US. topped racing but still riding, completed Reach the Beach (100 mile ride) this summer for the American Lung Association, also celebrated our 50th Anniversary this summer 2017). - lots of travels including different parts of Europe, Egypt, cruises, and lots of months in Maui boogie boarding and snorkeling. Who knows what is next as I start the next chapter of my life crossing the line - age 70 🚴🏾🍷🌴⭐️🏊🏻♀️
Fun sharing my life since graduating from Franklin in 1966, I have many fond memories from my school days. We grew up at a great time in history.
