Barbara's Story
Life
I've been married to the same person (Doug Meeks) since 1971 and we have two wonderful daughters. The oldest (Ashley) is now a stay-at-home mom with 4 children ages 7, 5, 2 and 1. My youngest (Karen) is a career person, still single with two dogs and a cat. I've continued to live within the Marietta, Powder Springs and Acworth areas since graduation. I worked for Cobb County government for 10 1/2 years, then stayed home for a short while with children. Then I worked part-time as a bookkeeper/secretary for a large church in Marietta for 9 1/2 years and absolutely loved it. Eventually I started my own medical transcription business which was great. nd chronic fatigue syndrome about 20 years ago and over the years it continuously worsened and the pain finally became too much for me to deal with all the time, so I am no longer employed outside the home. I love to swim in our pool, ride on the back of Doug's Harley, work with crafts and flowers and spend time with the grandbabies. I also love to travel.
School
Biggest crush was on the nextdoor neighbor. In 6th grade my teacher was Mrs. Fogg and I really liked her and think about her the most. If I had it all to do over again, I'd work hard to be outgoing and join in different school groups. I was WAY too quiet and too shy in school and I know I missed out on a lot by just living in my little shell.
