Barbara's Story
Life
After graduating NRHS in 1982, life took me in a few different directions, attending Northeastern University for a year and University of Lowell for 2 years. Realizing that Im far too soft to be in a human clinical medical setting, I changed paths to my deep love of animals and worked in pet stores as a salesperson, grooming salons, boarding kennels doing obedience training, and finally as a veterinary technician. In 1985, I met my husband to be and moved to the Central MA area beginning in Clinton, where again my life took a different path. I gave birth to my son and only child in 1991 and went back to school, graduating from Northern Essex Community College with a Certificate in Medical Transcription in 1995. I began working in a Clinic doing transcription and as my son grew up and he needed me with a more flexible schedule, I came home to work for national transcription companies and then I did medical transcription...Expand for more
for Saints Medical Center in Lowell, MA. My son graduated from Nashoba Regional HS in Bolton and now works in security. I am starting a new job as a medical secretary and have been with my significant other since 2011 and now reside in Athol MA.
Im still addicted to baseball, attending many minor league games during the summer in Worcester, Lowell and Pawtucket. My animal love still shows strong having adopted retired racing greyhounds and working/volunteering for the Greyhound Friends rescue kennel and having 3 cats and 3 birds. I still love music and go out to see live music frequently.
Workplace
Now working as a medical transcriptionist at Saints Medical Center for the last 3 years. Before that, worked for insurance adjusters doing transcription, and before that, worked as a medical secretary to a neurosurgeon in Natick. Before that, I had been doing medical transcription at home and in the field at Fallon Clinic.
