Barbara's Story
Life
As of November 8, 2012 I am now the widow of my second husband, Chuck. We celebrated our 36th anniversary on Sept. 11th, 2012. I have lived in California since 1969, just south of San Francisco on the coast, in a little town called Half Moon Bay, population 14,000, and absolutely love it! We are surrounded on three sides by golf courses, but do not play golf. Between my husband and I we have 4 daughters, 2 sons,11 grandkids ranging from 18 to 31 years, 2 great granddaughters and two great grandsons (and a great grandson on the way in March). Of my own 2 daughters; Bonnie is a floor manager at our local Ace Hardware and owns 3 rental properties in Oregon, lives near me on the coast, is married and has 2 daughters, Amanda age 26, and Melisa age 29. Melisa, the oldest, has married and now has an eight year old daughter, my GREAT granddaughter, Ella, the apple of my eye. Amanda just recently married to an Air Force pilot. My other daughter, Cheryl (Gauthier)is married, lives on a lake in Charlton, Mass. and has no children. She is the Director of the Biological-Terrorism Response Lab in Jamaica Plain, Ma and works hand in hand with the FBI, Homeland Security, Hazmat, National Guard, Police and Fire Departments. She received recognition from the FBI and Post Office for her assistance in the Anthrax investigation several years ago.
I was the lead singer in a couple of bands in the 70's; then I was a disc jockey for a couple of years. I opened a video store in 1980 for 12 years and then in 1992 I went into the travel ...Expand for more
industry. I was a cruise counselor for over 10 years at an agency nearby and then became a home agent for Cruises Only in Orlando, Florida after our two companies were merged, and worked from home until I retired in 2003. Even though I am retired, I still book some of my old clients on cruises.
We love to travel and have done lots and lots of cruising and two six week motorhome trips around the U.S.
I love retirement and spend most of my time on my computer writing, working with photos (I love photography) and updating my several hundred page Memoirs book which I plan on passing down to my great granddaughter. I wish my great grandmother had done the same.
My book, "IS THAT YOUR MOTHER-IN-LAW UNDER THE BED" was published in September of 2012. The second, which is a sequel to the first book, "IS THAT YOUR COUSIN IN THE CLOSET?" was published in Sept. of 2013, and I have finished writing the third book, "IS THAT YOUR NEIGHBOR IN THE BASEMENT?" I recently signed with Authorhouse and the third book was published in September of 2014. I am currently writing my fourth book, "IS THAT YOUR AUNT IN THE ATTIC?" which should be available in spring of 2016. The books are comedy/mystery/adventure stories about two senior citizen sisters thrown into a life of catching the cheating spouse, solving crimes and getting into precarious situations when they throw themselves into their work.
