Barbara's Story
Life
After graduating from Roosevelt HS in 1966, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received both my BA (Clinical Psychology) and MS (Counseling & Guidance). I was a school counsleor for 33 years and retired(which is why I have the time to do this) from that before burning out in 2005. I have been married to Jim for 34 years. We live just outside of Madison in Sun Prairie. We have one son, Josh, who is studying to become a chef and attends culinary school at Madison Area Technical College. We hope he graduates next spring. (It's a 2 year program, but he is on the 3 year plan.) We have 2 cats, Charlotte & Suzy, who run our house.
I am now pursuing some of my passions. I work as a stage manager at various theater companies in the area when they will hire me. I do some editing of legal documents for a friend. We have started to tr...Expand for more
avel a little. My husband bought me a doll house before Josh was born. I put it away for a long time and have gotten it out and am working on that. I do needle work when watching TV(my excuse for sitting in front of the TV). I have taken 20 years of photos and finally sorted them out and put them it albums. The digitals ones are much easier to keep sorted. My brother-in-law who is a very talented photographer, has gotten me hooked on posting pictures on Flickr.com, so I take my very amature digital pictures and do that. Best of all, I get to sleep late and stay up late as I am a night person.
As my husband is now retired also, we are getting to travel. In the last year, we spent a week in Phoenix, two weeks in Italy, and a week in Williamsburg. We are planning a trip to Hawaii in February and a cruise in the eastern Mediterranean this summer.
