Barbara's Story
Life
My husband, Art and I have been married since 1982. We have 3 adult children (Tom, Pam, and Phil). Tom's a vocal music teacher and musician. Pam's a graduate of Harvard. Phil is a student at Moraine Valley. Art and I are starting to think about what we are going to do with ourselves now that we are supposed to be grownup. We camp out every year with college friends from SIU-E that come in from all over the U.S. We have camped with this group every year since 1981. Our daughter, Pam just got married to Tony Bylina in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They dated for 9 years.
I have worked as a media Paraprofessional for School District 130 here in Blue Island since 1996. I loved my job and will miss being the school librarian. This year, I am starting on permanent disability because I have Multiple Sclerosis that has become a nuisance.
Two of my brothers, Lew and Steve are still living in Granite City with their families. My brother, Gary just passed away in May, 2011.
