Barbara's Story
Life
My dad, Adelbert Plummer was superintendent at Weidman from 1951-1955. I attended school in Weidman from Kindergarten-3rd grade. We moved to Kinde in 1955 and then to Marlette in 1959. I graduated from Marlette in 1964 and headed off to CMU to become a teacher. In 1966 I married Art Woods and moved to Big Rapids where Art was attending FSU. In June of 1966 we moved back to Marlette and the Dairy Farm that Art ran with his father. We raised three children, 2 biological and one foster son. We have five granddaughters and two grandsons. My mom and dad moved back to Marlette several years ago. Sadly my dad died in February of 1999, and mom passed away in September 2009, just shy of her 90th birthday. I have fond memories of Weidman and Kinde, and the many friends with whom I've lost contact. Art and I still live on our farm, but rent the land to a neighbor. he grounds maintenance (41 acres). I worked as a para pro in the special ed. department at the Marlette Elementary School. While I enjoyed my job, I am content staying home with my flower beds, sewing machine and my grandchildren, so I retired at the end of the 2009 school year. Our daughter, Julie teaches AP Chemistry and AP Biology for Marlette Schools. Next fall she will have all three of her daughters in college. Her husband works for Culligan and does photography for Marlette High School Sports. Our son, Nik is an athletic trainer, a strength and conditioning instructor, has his teaching degree but ;is an RN in surgery at Sandusky Hospital. His wife is an RN in Marlette's ER. Their only child will be a fifth grader next year. Our foster son lives in California and works for the Schwan Company, traveling into several states. He has a daughter in college and two sons in school. We love our lives and have enjoyed being a part of the Marlette Community.
