Barbara Edwards:  

Life I attended UN-L, married Jim Schriner in Dec. 1972. He was an architecture student so from Jan 1973-May 1973 we were in London because of the architecture program and traveled Europe. Returned to UN-L, graduated 1974 with a BFA in art education. Taught art at Cathedral for 1 1/2 years. Moved to Chicago. Involved with League of Women Voters. Taught in Catholic schools for 7 years. Alex born 1982. Kate born 1985. Divorced and moved back to Lincoln 1987. Subbed and got fulltime job teaching art at Prescott 1989. Married Mike Edwards 1993. He has two kids from first marriage, Jason born 1969 and Julia born 1972 (her daughter Hailey born July 2000). Mike's job with Burlington Northern Santa Fe transferred him to St. Joe in 1995. We have a great old house, built in 1911. Brick, wood floors, beautiful woodwork. I was a para after moving to St. Joe, taught art in Atchison, KS for 4 years. After our 30 year reunion I had plans to keep in touch with classmates I re-connected with but on September 11, 1999 my son, Alex Schriner, was in an auto accident on Highway 2 going to Lincoln to meet his father for a football game. A week at Lincoln General and 5 weeks at Madonna Rehab. Alex is paralyzed from the chest down, is now a student at UN-L and doing well, hoping for embryonic stem cell research to find a cure.
