Barbara's Story
Life
I divorced 11 years ago but have recently remarried and am still living in Kentucky.
My Pets
I have four dogs (2 indoor and 2 out).
My Kids
I have a son, Dustin, who will be 22 in July. I also have a daughter, Ginger, who will be 21 in March. My daughter married in April 2008.
My Job
I have worked at a locallaly owned bank, for the last 20 years. I am the Loan Compliance Officer. I'm responsible for keeping up with the laws & regulations, keeping the loan staff trained, review all loans for compliance issues.
School
I attended Anderson Elementary School and Vance Jr High School before attending Tennessee High School. (All located in Bristol, TN)
College
I started taking college classes after I moved to Kentucky and started working at the bank. I first started taking 1 class per year and then two a year. I got interested in getting my degree, so I started taking 2 classes per semester. It was hard work since I worked full time and had two small children (not to mention suffering through a divorce during that time). It took me 10 years to get my degree, but I finally did it! I graduated from Somerset Community College the same year that my son graduated 8th grade and my daughter graduated 6th grade!
I enjoyed attending classes and learning more about the outside world and technology. I received my Associates Degree in Business Technology with a Banking Option. I took some on-line classes through University of Phoenix & Lindsey Wilson College. I may continue to receive my Bachelor's Degree some day.
Workplace
I first began my working career at McDonald's on Hamburger Lane in Bristol, TN when I was 16 years old for one year. I moved on from there to Provident Life Insurance Co., where I worked until I moved to Kentucky in 1989. I worked at a boat marina for a couple of months during the summer that I moved to KY on Lake Cumberland. Then I got the job where I am currently working. I have been employed at a locally owned bank in Jamestown, KY for the last 20 years. I started out as a teller for the first year, bookkeeping department for several years, loan department and now Compliance Officer.
I am also employed with the Fiscal Court where I have been the County Treasurer for the last 7 years.
