Barbara's Story
Life
This is my 20th yr in Albany, NY area. People still like my Boston accent! Bought a 2-family house. Daughter Kristen and her family--
husband Lee, daughter Amanda (age 7yrs) and son Andrew (age 4 months). between the two households there is 1 dog (Lady), 4
cats (Baby, Lucy, Sparkle & Willis) and 2 fish (Duchess & Goldie).
I spend time reading watching TV, surfing the net and working on
my family tree. I have gone back to around to the year 200!!
I use crutches to get around because of joint surgeries, but I try
to not let that keep me down. I walked to a glacier in Alaska --
over a mile. I still take my granddaughter shopping, fishing, or
to the movies or live theater. Nana is a bit slow at times, but she
gets it done!
I also attended the Washington march against the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan...Expand for more
. I walked to the end of the march site, too.
I miss not being an active pastor, but I do perform weddings, baptisms, and funerals or whatever from time to time. I can do them
in Massachusetts, too, if you need a clergy person. Is that self-promotion or what?
I have taken up the hobby of genealogy. And have traveled to
the Canadian province of New Brunswick to find some of my Dad's
people. I also found some in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island,
Quebec, and Ontario as well as Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Because I am the oldest of all the Silk cousins, I am now the
person who has all the information. They are hoping I will put it all
down on paper for them to have. That's going to be a big task
because the Silks had between 6-12 children in the past generations.
