Barbara's Story
Life
I was born in Long Island, New York and lived there until I was finished with fifth grade. Then my family moved to New Jersey. We moved to Florida in the middle of my 7th grade year. We lived in Stuart, Florida throughout my high school years. Then my mom moved to Atlanta and I went off to college in Clarksville, Tennessee. After graduating, I started a career in radio, as a news director and on-air person. Then moved on to television and became a TV reporter in Nashville, Tennessee. I now have two children and work part-time doing health tv news reports from a major medical center.
School
I started school at Central Blvd Elementary in Bethpage, NY. In fifth grade, we moved to Franklin, NJ where I went to 6th grade and part of 7th grade. College
I went to Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. I majored in elementary education with a concentration in music. After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I continued on at APSU and got my master's of Arts in Education, with a major in administration and supervision and a minor in remedial reading.
Workplace
After graduating from college, I broke into radio, becoming a news director and morning drive news person in Clarksville, Tennessee. Then, after getting married, I became news director for radio station WKYX-WKYQ in Paducah, Ky. Then we moved to Nashvile and I broke into television reporting, working at two stations in Nashville, before going into public relations in a major medical center. I made that move after children came along, so I could have a better schedule to be a mom.
