Barbara's Story
Hello ... greetings from Boulder City Nevada.
I'm retired after 44 years in nursing. While I loved nursing, I must admit, retirement is pretty good, and enjoy staying home. Initially in my career, I worked in at Hurley and concurrently with the health dept before relocating to Nevada in 1991. Moving to Nevada, I worked years in the heart cath lab. I honestly can say, I don't miss the call hours. Loved the job, but hours could be brutal.
I'm married to Dave Tagge who was a Carman graduate ('73). He was in the Marines stationed in California. He vowed he'd never live in another Michigan winter. Hence, the desert southwest. We have no kids.
Dave retired in 2010, so needless to say, I crowd his free time. He's an avid golfer. We live in a golf course community. Dave escapes to play a few days a week to help keep his sanity. In fact, I have often referred our house as the beer, bath and booze house. Paints a picture. We keep busy with remodeling projects and some travel. Travel is mostly ...Expand for more
centered on trips back to Michigan, golfing in California, and heading to Phoenix to see friends from college.
Professionally, I enjoyed working in a variety of positions ranging from adult critical care; years in both invasive and noninvasive cardiology (heart cath lab) along with concurrent positions at the community college and administrative roles with Clark County. My last place employment was with Dignity Health (11 years), I was tasked with staff education responsibilities and creating policies and procedure guidelines for invasive and noninvasive cardiology and the ICU. I also represented our area with Dignity/Common Spirit Health Governess. It was a great journey. Very busy and no regrets.
My free time is now centered around home projects; cooking in my new kitchen; get togethers with friends, and shopping in LA. Living in the Las Vegas area, there isn’t a loss of things to do. But, unless we have visitors, we do avoid the strip. You can find gaming, dining pretty much everywhere.
