Barbara's Story
Life
Married, divorced, remarried, 1 son. Currently married to Phil Howard, who is in the U.S. Navy Seabees. I'm pretty much the same-old, same-old....only gravity and time keep succeeding at making me look like my grandmother. *L* I spent 3 years in Biloxi Mississippi, 2 1/2 years at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. I like to travel, hubby has a motorcycle. (Don't get excited....I don't do leather and you'd be glad I don't!)
Currently I am back in Spencer. We bought the family farm. Hubby is in Japan right now but will be back in June and be stationed in California. I'll be here getting the house ready for when he retires. (I don't really want to live in California!)
What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion?
I don't think anything would surprise anyone except for the fact that somehow I managed to get older. That still shocks me when I look in the mirror.
Which teacher would you love to see again? Why?
Since I live here, I see most of them around town. It sure is strange though to have a conversation with someone who scared the daylights out of you as a teenager.
What¿s the wildest thing you ever did in school?
Do we really want to go there?
How do you hope old friends remember you?
I hope they remember my sense of humor. It has gotten me through a lot and without it I'd be sooo dull.
To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom?
I am truly happy no matter ...Expand for more
where I am. I love being here in Spencer and being able to see my son and mother whenever I want. After living away for almost 6 years I missed them a lot. At the same time, I miss being with my husband. I'm looking forward to his retirement in 5 years when he is back home to stay.
Life doesn¿t always turn out the way you expect. What¿s been your biggest surprise?
Getting pregnant and having my son was a surprise. It was a blessed surprise. The divorce from his father was a surprise. Getting married again and being so happy continues to surprise me. Life is good.
You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
Probably been more adventurous at an earlier age. I spent so much time being afraid of leaving my comfort zones that I never really experienced a lot.
I would have spent more time with my father.
What¿s the weirdest job you ever had?
It would have to have been picking oranges in Florida. I never knew that orange trees have thorns and that everytime you get jabbed you get a sore similar to a boil. DON'T get chosen to be the one to climb the tree and shake it without serious padding on your posterior rear.
Where have you lived? Why did you move?
Here most of my life. Pittsburgh for a few months, Lakeland Florida for about 5 months, Biloxi, Mississippi for 3 years, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for 2 1/2 years. MS and MO were with hubby for his military, but this is home and I always come back.
