Barbara's Story
Here is a stab at those 'Story Ideas' classmates list...
1. What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion?
...that I am a strict parent.
...that I would show up ÿ I guess not, I crashed the 20th reunion.
2. Which teacher would you love to see again, and why?
...Mr. Pallis (sorry about the spelling sir, I don't remember if it was one L or 2) - and I have seen him. Unfortunately it was at Jennifer Gallop's viewing.
...Mr. Walborn - I don't think I had him as a teacher - but he was a funny guy.
3. What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?
...We all have kids, now. (Ok, some of us)...
...So, that one will never be answered! Those of us that were wild will remember those things and those of us that weren't heard about it back then. (Is that vague enough for the kids?)
4. What happened to your first crush?
...He told me I look like a fish when I cry (back in HS) and then went out with Bonnie (I think that was her name) and He graduated and joined the military - I haven't seen him since. I have done a search or two on him over the years and saw he was in the military, by an article in a military paper. I even found him here at classmates. You look sharp in your uniform... :)
5. How do you hope old friends remember you?
...Fondly, as I do them.
6. To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom?
...that one is easy - I would be exactly where I am, doing what I do (with less of the 9-5 working). The times I have with my family makes being apart from them (while I work) tolerable. My family (clarify my kids) are my life, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I am so in love with each one of them and their idiosyncrasies.
7. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise?
...When I was fresh out of HS it was that fact that we all didn't stay close. (Ya all left me for college, then I moved to CA)
...About 16 years ago... that I could be an 'old maid' (so I got married)
...About 14 years ago... that I could marry the wrong man. (see what...Expand for more
happens)
...About 6 years ago... that I could ever get married again (I swore I would never do it again, saying it would be a cold day in hell when I get married again... ) It snowed in Newton, NJ on March 1, 2003 [it really did too] when I married my husband, Bill) Update:12/2012 divorcing that man
...About a year ago... That I could have a baby after 40! (see thats what happens...)
...About 10 minutes ago... that I would be typing this BS for all to read...
8. You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
...Nothing. What I have done and didn't do - makes me the person I am today. I have learned a lot of things from my experiences and wouldn't want my life any different then it is today.
update... I would have hung with my parents more...they really were cool people with their heads on straight. My Mom is still active and a great friend. [I miss my Dad]
9. What is the weirdest job you ever had?
...I don't think I ever had a weird job.... the shortest length of employment was 4 hours ... if that is weird...I worked as a dental assistant in San Diego... He had 4 clients (I think it was 4) come in and during the routine cleanings he made each persons gums bleed... He said they all had 'poor' gums... I think he was too rough... so I left for lunch and when I came back ... I quit.
10. Where have you lived? Why did you move?
...You all know I lived in Andover, NJ (from birth through HS school)
Then I lived in...
Sparta, NJ (1 Place) (wanted to be 'on my own at 17) shared a studio apartment [basement of a house] with Jennifer Gallop
Milton, NJ (1 Place) (wanted to play house)
Newton, NJ (2 Places) (wanted a 'real' place of my own)
Spring Valley, CA (1 Place) (wanted to be near my sister and her family, and get Ed out of my head/heart)
Poway, CA (2 Places) (better neighborhood)
Rancho Bernardo, CA (1 Place) (got married)
Andover, NJ (1 Place) (got divorced and moved home to Mom with my daughter)
Landing, NJ (1 Place) (got married and my daughter and I moved in with Husband and stepson)
