Barry's Story
Life
Married and divorced twice, and have a beautiful daughter who I haven't talked to in years. I have owned several different businesses over the years. A bar ,two dart shops, a furniture store, and a biker apparel store. I'm retired now( I didn't get to retire at the age of forty which was one of my life goals so I guess I'll have to settle for 59 ),all in all pretty happy with my life! Went back to school at age 32 and got a degree in computer engineering. Worked for a Fortune 500 company before starting my own business(es). Would like to catch up with some of my old friends.....Hope you enjoy reading this bio as much as I've enjoyed living it.
School
I used to hang out with Billy McClain, Ronnie Pricer, Kerry Ayres, & Nickie Odom. We would go rackin' around ( I haven't used that phrase in YEARS !!! ) hit the 39th street McDonalds & then Bonapartes. We almost always rode in Billy's jacked up White Mercury Comet...just about needed a step ladder to get in the car. I used to go " steady" with Billy's sister, Sandy McClain.
WE drank beer, chased women, and generally raised hell. Skipped class a lot... GOOD TIMES!
A typical day would start with us in Billy's car smoking and shooting the bull right before first period.. Some one would mention they were hungry, and off we would g...Expand for more
o to Whits' restaurant for breakfast. Spent many a first and second period at Whits. We usually skipped third period at this point. Went back to school at lunch time to enjoy ALL of the lunch periods ( and pick up as many girls as we could to take to lunch or talk into skipping ) .By this time we figured there was no use going for the last few periods, since we had already missed half a day, and would usually find some devilment to get into!!!
When I went to class...Mrs. Grigsby was my favorite teacher ( She taught American History....talk about a boring subject zzzzzzzzzzzzzz ) She inspired me to apply myself instead of just coasting through class. After all these years I still remember her. I wasn't a good student in most classes, because I was bored. She challenged me mentally. If you were late for class or disruptive in class ( like I was in most classes ) she would kick you out of her classroom. No Vice-Principal, no other punitive action. It usually only took once. ( you would go outside, smoke a cigarette, and realize what an ass you had been. ) I was fortunate to have her as my teacher...it's a shame my other teachers weren't more like her!
