Barry's Story
When I left Ct. I was a long distance truck driver [mover] & I relocated with wife Sue Patchel[IBI] to Ft.Laud Fl inabout 1976 stayed in Lauderdale for a decade then moved a little north to Ft.piercce Fl . Got my first job at a TV station there [CBS] & got a divorce from sue, after having one child ASHLEY [18] we were married for 18 years.Stayed there 1 /2 years & came to Sarasota Fl to a different TV station [ABC] worked in operations for a year and then moved into the news dept as a photojournalst.Staying in Sarasota changed to an NBC station as a photojournalist & shot news & sports, traveled with the Tampa bay bucs,flew on the private charter with the team to away games for 6 years,covered 6 super bowls.many presidents & the POPES vis...Expand for more
it to miami.As a news photographer I see a lot of death & destruction its not much fun but we take the good with the bad.the last 14 years I was with the FOX NEWS network based out of Tampa lMarried again have a 17 yr old daughter [nat'l honor soc] & a great wifenow for another18 years.I just retired from FOX and I took the NEWS DIRECTOR job at a 24 hr cable news station owned bythe NEW YORK TIMES I am having a ball.I also sit on the editorial board meetings twice a day to decide what stoties & what photos will be in tomorrows paper?MY former teachers at AMITY would roll over in their graves if they only knew ! I look forwadt to going to work each & every day.Who knew skipping so many days of school & being in ESP frat would pay off so well.
