Becki's Story

Life Traveled some and resided in various parts of the U.S. Was married just shy of 17 years, spent a bit over 10 years of it Army style. Divorced in 2001. Relocated back to Findlay in 2000, then to Carey in 2002, the outside New Riegel and currently Jackson Center. Presently single again. Have five children of my own - a son (1985), a daughter (1991), a daughter (1993), and twin daughters (2003). I gained a son- in-law in 2013 and a grandson (prematurely) in 2016. A granddaughter is due Sept. 2017. Finally beginning to act and show my age, although I still have a problem with authority. I played co-ed softball and volleyball in my twenties and thirties. Now I sit the sidelines and cheer on my kids. Medical conditions hinder me greatly. School Relocated part way through my Freshman year and completed that grade in Georgia at Newton County CHS. Relocated back to RHS Sophomore year and graduated in 1982. National Honor Society, Falcon manager/trainer for football and filled in for baseball and wrestling, statistician for girls' basketball, IOE member/Chapter Vice Pres., TAG member, County choir, Show choir, musicals, plays, FTA, FHA, Intramurals, hellraiser, and so on. College Enrolled at the former Stautzenberger College (Findlay Campus)/whatever they call it now, in 1990, graduated 18 months later with an Associate's in Business Administration/Microcomputer Operations. If I had not been expecting a baby a couple months after graduation, one more quarter would have seen yet another degree in Accounting. Ah, well, I've learned so much more from life itself! Workplace When I relocated to Georgia about a year after high school, I worked in downtown Atlanta in the service center of a large credit bureau. I kind of bounced around for a while roaming the country doing odd jobs to get me by. Was fun for a while. When I returned to Ohio, I worked in several departments of the former Theatrical Accessories factory in Findlay. Then I got married...ah ha. There goes that roaming part again. Not really. I kind of fell into the role of wife and mother rather quickly. During college, though, I did some computer work for the company that built the mall in Findlay. Then motherhood took over a second time. Becoming an Army spouse kin...Expand for more
d of changed things. I was active in support groups and volunteered time in the schools, too. I was also semi-self employed throughout that time with the essentially odd jobs of child care, editing college term papers for military students, helping clean quarters for some friends, and helping other friends with their business ventures. Gained a lot of experience doing all that! When I returned to Ohio after the divorce, I got certified as a alternate caregiver for my Mother, who was a foster parent. When her need lessened, I took a job in a light duty factory in Findlay. I also attempted to do seasonal semi loading for Kohl's. I then landed a position as an at-homel editor for a research company based in Findlay. I stayed with that position until after the twins birth, and I realized I could no longer fully contribute to the company. I reapplied and was rehired with the research company in 2005. Was laid off in 2009 not long after my Mom was diagnosed with cancer. When the father of my twin girls passed, my kids and I began our adventure where were are presently. . Military Let's see...As a military (Army) spouse to a career enlisted soldier, I and my children survived life at Fort (Planet) Ord, California; Tacoma and Fort Lewis, Washington; Spring Lake and (Fayettenam/Fayettehell) Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Among all those places I spent a lot of time alone with the children while he went and 'played' for extended times in Missouri, Maryland (twice), and Korea (twice). I made many, many friends - civilian, dependents, and soldiers alike. Keeping in touch with them has been a goal I have been trying to maintain even though I am no longer 'in'. My older three children still have connections since their Dad is career and served 3 tours in the fight against terrorism. Although I try to see the points of view of others - negative and positive - please do not bait me with heavy criticisms of any branch of military. I love this country and those who defend it. I have seen both sides and know how it works. If there is a problem, take it up with the government! My view of life is quite different than it use to be, which has influenced who I am today. While I may look basically the same, I am not.
