Becky's Story
I started Loma Terrace in the 2nd grade. We had just moved back from Germany. My father was in the Army. Like so many other kids, I went from one Army base to another. Fortunately, I only had to move to four different places. I have wonderful memories of El Paso. I got to attend Loma Terrace until the fall of 1968. I loved those years. I made friends that I will never forget. I had some wonderful friends who I still believe to be friends. Cathy Reaves and Jeanell Clark were friends who lived on Burgess Dr. which was the same block were I lived. We fought like cats and dogs, and them we would make up because good girl (christian girls) didn't act that way. I have very fond and maybe not so fond memories of Terry Latimer, Darla Gooden, Sherry Driggers, Arlene, Daniel McNichy(misspelled), Roy, Donald Tubbs, Burgo Gill, Javiar and his sister, and so many more. these maybe nightmares.) The last year I was at Loma Terrace (1968) was the best time in my childhood. I was a 7th grade cheerleader. Patti Dove and I were cheerleaders from the 7th grade. After that fantastic spring, I moved to Oklahoma. Burgo Gill moved also. I never saw him here in Ok, but I did see him in El Paso later that fall. We had to stay in the area of Lawton, Ok. I started dating very soon after my 13th birthday. I finished the 9th grade and married a manto show my parents I was in control of me. (Pretty stupid, but true.) As time rolled on, I married a second husband who is a gift from God and had 4 children. Of course I quit school after the 9th grade and had to catch up later in life. I am now a 4th grade teacher, I will have my master's degree in School Counseling in December 2009, have 6 grandchildren, and am blessed beyond belief. I am so looking forward to rekindling old friendships. Like I said, the late 60's were a time in my life I really do cherish. Love to all who lived it with me.
