Ben's Story
Life
Late twentysomething wrapped up in exciting post-dot-com lifestyle. I'm working in Manhattan for an "emerging" tech company (we're officially not a startup anymore), but quite what that means I don't know. I am not far down enough on the totem pole to not be able to sit down in the CEO's office and chat about things like beer and technology, but not far enough up where I have my own office - although for three years at another company I did. I ride a NJ Transit bus for an hour and a half each way to get to work. How I do that and stay sane I am not sure. Once I get to work I am in charge of infrastructure, which basically means that I make sure the lights stay on and the email keeps flowing. I also get to figure out snappy answers to stupid problems, which somehow makes me a professional genius.
I am married, quite how that happened I do not know. In May of 2006 we had a daughter, Dana. We've been married since 2003, but I've kn...Expand for more
own her for a long, long time.
I have desperately tried to be an art f'ck since 1994, however in reality I am more happy drinking a Guinness at a dive bar in Dover Township than I am drinking a cosmo in Manhattan. I am also an amateur photographer. People say I am good, but people also lie. I run a website about the Pine Barrens which gets a lot of traffic from other insane individuals who also have the same interests. I did, however, get an arch-enemy out of the deal, which makes at least one of my other friends jealous of me.
I have a pretty rockin house in Brick that I share with my wife, two dogs, three cats, three birds, a bunny, and a toad with one eye. Somehow we keep finding animals that need to be rescued, or in the case of the toad, inadvertantly maimed with a lawn mower. Fortunately now we have landscapers come and deal with the lawn, so any animals harmed in the maintenance of my property is on someone elses conscience.
