Bernadette's Story
I am married, living in Potland,OR. I have a graphic design studio, and have been the graphic designer for Turtle Island, Fiji for the past 15+ years. I have a couple of other mostly travel related clients as well.
I have three children, Ryan (26), Barrissa (24) and Sara (23). My son graduted in October 2007 from Brooks Institute of Photography, and is living in Brooklyn, New York. Barrissa was in Miami Beach studying Fashion Merchandising at the Miami Art Institute. She has returned to the PDX area. My baby was in Orlando studying Recording Arts/Music Production at Full Sail Real World. She graduated on February 8, with a BA in Music Entertainment Business. She is now living in Brooklyn with her brother.
I am currently working a couple of books about Roy Craft's life, using his materials. The process is taking longer then I thought it would, but it has been very emotionally rewarding. Those of you who remember Roy will remember his keen sense of humor. The first book is about his relationship as a publicist with Marilyn Monroe. He kept her most salacious fan/hate mail, most of which is shocking. He wrote about her and their time together, but never publis...Expand for more
hed it in a book of his own. The second book will be about his career as a journalist, publisher, and public relations officer during WWII. Roy served in Alaska on Kiska, in the South Pacific, and landed on Normandy Beach, DDay+4 with the press corps. He published a newspaper for the men on a mimeograph machine. It was informational, but also motivational. He published his paper, as time and movement allowed, all across the Western Front, from Normandy Beach to the Siegfried line. From there, he became the managing editor for the Stars and Stripes in the ETO, and opened the Paris office. Upon returning stateside, he became a reporter for LIFE magazine, and covered Hollywood. This lead him to 20th Century Fox and the management of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley's publicity.
I recently attend the Faulkner Literary Conference in New Orleans. It was an amazing experience. I was able to meet and get to know writers. I have my first five of fourteen planned chapters done on My Marilyn Monroe book and am looking for a publisher. Wish me luck!
I really enjoyed seeing everyone at the 30th class reunion this summer. It was a blast! I hope to do it again in 5 years.
