Bernard's Story
Who r u really is some questions to answer, it seems to me that it was instilled in me by some of my teachers that I never would amount to much, however there were a few that really supported me but still I quit in the 10 th grade and at age 22 realized that if I wanted to really make a life for my children that I needed to get back to school. Went for my GED and proceeded to go for a associates degree as a enviromental engineer. I lucked out and had a good job, I was laid off several times over the years. Could not make the money working for someone else so I started a business and it took off. I had four womderful children, but my first marriage ended in divorce after 16 yrs., I met my second wife in 1975 and we were married in 1979. Things were really going great and my oldest son died at age 20 after being in a fatal car accident. As most of us in this forum it is hard for one to realize that so many years have pasted by. I have many grand children and 3 great grand children, keep in mind that I was 17 when I got married the first time. I lost my best friend and have been a widower since...Expand for more
the fall of 2001 and I retired on disability at age 54 soon after she passed. I met someone 2 years ago and I may try for number 3, but only time will tell. Life is to short to rush into anyhing or to be alone, I am still looking for my first love if she is available, she knows who I mean. So all in all for someone that was told when I left school that I would never make it, sometimes when a person is told they can't do something they just try that much harder. I still am able to mow the grass and keep up with the yard work, so in essences I retired from one job and took up another, but be carefull I often wonder how I found time to go to work after I had retired. never seems to be enough time. Well, that some of where I have been and only God knows where I am going, so let it be one day at a time. It really been an honor to be able to reach out to some people from my child hood and remember those days of years ago that now seems so special as I look back on them. Days gone by are special in many ways, they are called memories. God Bless all my old Friends and the new ones I make.
