Bernie's Story

I always wanted to be a Magistrate when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a different idea. As it turns out, they were right. I like to run a few miles when my knees let me and play golf. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a sense of belonging, ethical co-workers, and competitive pay to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My heroes are my fellow Marines and family. My inspiration comes from them doing what is hard to do and accomplishing what no one wants to try. My family inspires me because they are always understanding of my goals and direction. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Steven and Kevin Jones, because I miss them. I would like to see Sra Smart and Sr. Garcia, my Spanish teachers in high school. They had more to offer than I understood at the time. I also would like to thank my Jr. high school reading teacher, Miss Brown. She pushed students to read and read a lot. She knew that we would need this skill later on in life and would use it daily. My best friend would tell you I'm personable guy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe m...Expand for more
e as very conservative type. What's the weirdest job you ever had? Never had a weird job, have had my share of bad ones though. Have worked with one to many unethical supervisors to last me a life time. You get one do-over. What do you do differently? I would have studied harder in high school. I would have learned to golf earlier and choose to keep much closer to my friends. In 10 years, I hope to be Graduate student. I'm going to get there by saving for tuition. My oldest friend is Julio, we met in 3rd Recon Bn, Okinawa, Japan. He was better than me in every way; physically, mentally, morally and ethically. I tried in every way to emulate him and his style. He was kind enough to help me develop my own leadership style and demonstrate where I could improve. Even through my personal tribulations he has always remained a close and dear friend of mine and that of family. What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? I went to college and recieved two degrees. My first job was at Handyman, where I got paid hourly to stack lumber. What I remember most about it is that is was fun and liked everyone there..
