Bert's Story
After finishing eighth grade at John Morrow School, my family moved to Ben Avon, so instead of Oliver I went to Avonworth High School for ninth through twelfth grade. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969 (B.S. in Chemistry) and from Pitt's School of Medicine in 1973 (M.D.).
I completed my Internship in 1974 in San Diego, followed by a 3 year Residency (specialty training) at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco. I then moved to Honolulu ...Expand for more
and was in private practice for 5 years, during which time I became a Professor of Surgery at the medical school.
After 5 years, I got a good case of "island fever" (Oahu is very small), so I returned to the San Francisco Bay area where I have been practicing since 1982. Since 2006 I have been scaling back my medical practice to allow time for other interests, especially aviation. I am an instrument rated, commercial pilot and Team Physician for The Patriots Jet Aerobatic Team.
