Beth's Story
For those that are confused by the name. No I was not married in high school. When we moved to the West Covina school district my stepfather listed us under his last name of Waters. In junior high I rebelled and wanted my name back. The school district lost the paperwork so for the first 1 1/2 years at WCHS I was known as Beth Waters then in my sophmore year I took back my name and was known as Beth Brunken. Which I gave up in 1982 to become Beth Atkins.
We had two kids born in California then moved to Nebraska and had another child. My oldest daughter hated Nebraska and as soon as she turned 18 she returned to California and currently works at Disneyland.
We have a son who struggles with Autism and ADHD and recently graduated from high school. For those who have kids with Autism do not bring them to Nebraska. We have fought and lost the struggle to get him the help he needs. His struggle may have been a help because my mother who is a teacher might have been able to identify another student showing the same symptoms who was also undiagnosed by the 3rd grade.

tarts high school this year and her challenge will be her own stubborness and the desire to do it all her way only
Well come to think of it wasn't that the way were all were in High School?
Now that our son has graduated I will be working to find the help he needs. As I have off in the summer I guess I will have the time to hopefully get something accomplished.
I generally stop by classmate but am not a paying member so will not see my guest book. I can be found on my space as sad mom or on face book by Beth Atkins, from time to time. I do not spend a lot of time on the computer as I do most of my living in the real world. I still believe in snail mail and land lines. Could talk to people for hours on the phone (well as long as the phone battery stays charged)
If in Omaha look me up and say hello.
Oh for those who knew my older brother Robert W. Brunken, or as he was sometimes known as Drunken Brunken. He passed away June 2011. NO not from drinking, but from heart a condition. He had been working for Union Pacific Railroad and switched his hobby from cars to model trains.
