Beth's Story
Life
Graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in journalism communication (1994) and education (1996). Taught middle school German, speech, and drama in Rockwood School District (part-time) 1996-1997 school year. Married Jim Rohr in May 1997 and moved to Alabama for 4 months while he attended the Military Police officer basic course for the Army. Moved to Ansbach, Germany in December 1997 for three years, where I worked as a ceramics instructor/picture framer for a craft shop, a salesperson for BMW, as a speech instructor for the overseas division of the University of Maryland, and as a local schools liaison officer for the army commander who had to oversee four schools for military dependents. Returned to Missouri (Ft. Leonard Wood) in September 2000, just a week after our 10-year reunion. Moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in June 200...Expand for more
1. Taught middle school reading and language arts in Colorado Springs from 2002-2005.
While my husband was deployed to Washington D.C. for 6 months after Sept. 11th, and again while he was serving in Iraq for a year after that mess began, I learned a lot of skills (like driving a Bobcat tractor to landscape my back yard and how to subcontract various jobs to "finish" my basement).
I have two daughters: Kate (5 years) and Jacy (4 months). My husband recently separated from the Army and works a civilian job for a homebuilder. I'm now a stay-at-home mom and walk my oldest daugher a half-mile to kindergarten most days. I've also written a children's book that remains unpublished (to date) and am contemplating writing a sitcom based on my experiences as an army wife. (I have accumulated lots of humorous material over the years on that subject.)
