Beth's Story

After grade school I attended St. Elizabeth's Academy and was a cheerleader for their sports teams. While in high school, I worked at the old Burger Chef on Spring and Gravois and was involved in a robbery...it was pretty scary! I worked at St. Louis University briefly and then in 1976 got a job at Valley Steel Products where I worked until they went bankrupt in 1991. A few of the guys that worked at Valley started up their own steel business, Crestwood Tubulars, Inc. and I have worked there ever since! I am in charge of the traffic department...I find the flatbed trucks to haul our steel pipe. It is a wild ride because truck drivers are something else....very spirited... and I have fun dealing with them! I am married - to the same man - 31 years in August 2011 and living happily ever after. My two grown sons are; Andrew (27) and Michael (24). Andrew is a policeman and he and his wife, Sarah, blessed us with a beautiful granddaughter, Ann Marie, on May 17th, 2011. We live in Imperial, MO and have a swimming pool where we spend most of our time. I love dogs and have 4 at present time. All 4 were either strays or give-aways. I still love sports and am a huge football and NASCAR fan. Of course, baseball was always in my heart and still is too. I love to just sit around the patio or pool and have a few beers with...Expand for more
friends and neighbors. At Christmastime I make homemade ornaments from junk. Yes, junk.....juice cans, popsicle sticks, light bulbs, spools, etc. just about everything has a use in crafts! I learned to play the guitar while in 8th grade and still dabble a little bit. When I was about 19 or 20, a girlfriend from high school and I played guitar and sang at Guttman's Tavern on Friday nights during the summer. We were playing softball for Guttman's team and Jerry would let us set up and perform. They were on Juniata right off Grand. It was so much fun! Gardening is a big passion of mine and we have some beautiful plants and bushes growing around our property. The Beatles are still my all time favorite and I still listen to their music...a lot! But I am also a County music fan...love all of it / old and new. My Mom and Dad have both passed away, as well as my oldest sister, Rosie. My sister, Tuffie (Kathy) lives in O'Fallon and my brother, Tony, is in Moscow Mills. We are really spread out and the family is thinning out too....sad but that's life. I belong to St. Joseph's in Imperial but once a month I attend a mass at St. Pius. You should go....the 10 am is very lively. It is a very enjoyable experience. I am very new to this site and will try to do the picture thing...if I can figure it out. Take care Beth
